My First Blog!

After seeing a couple of friends do this for their travels and happenings while abroad I thought it would be a good idea to keep ya'all in the loop.

It is Sunday morning here in Swansea, Wales (thats the western coast of Wales(Wales is to the west of England)) and I have become a victim of jet lag once again. Getting here wasn't that bad but it did take about 20 hours. I have been going to sleep at 8:30 the past couple of nights and if you know me you know that's not how I roll.

Yesterday the program coordinator for Swansea University took all the American students on a coach bus tour of Swansea and the surrounding area. The coast is awesome and I'm looking forward to the spring when I can go down there and get my man-tan on! On the tour we stopped at the local Tesco(Wales' Walmart) and got some eats and stuff.

My flatmates haven't come back yet from break but seeing as they have exams tomorrow I'm guessing they'll be back sometime today. Which I am very glad about because not only do I get to meet them I also get to find out why there are six bags of trash piled up in the kitchen among other uncleanliness in the bathroom. It will come as no suprise to most of you when I say I am not a particularly clean person myself but I like to think that I have some standards!

I'm pretty sure I ruined the outlets in my room when I got here when I plugged my power strip from the US into the adapter I have for the UK plugs(I forgot the adapter doesn't convert the power, oops!) so when I turned the power strip on there was a nice flash and loud pop followed by what I would call a funky smell. And since I don't know anything about what I'm doing here I gave the superintendent the wrong address for my room so I will have to wait a bit longer to get that fixed.

Well I hope this is somewhat entertaining because I expect all of you that read this to keep coming back for more.

  1. It's nice to see that you have a blog going. Don't feel too bad about the power adapter mishap because I did something really similar. I assumed that the adapter I had was a converter as well and plugged in some speakers that I brought with. Now they don't work which isn't cool. Have fun in Wales! I hope to see you this semester.
